“You can't even say he's on a run. He's just been killing it for over two years now.” - Xander talking about someone named Scott. Whether it's me writing Breakfast Balls (for five years) or the dominance of Scheffler is up for interpretation.

Golf world is obsessed

HAPPY GILMORE 2 DROPS TODAY

The inescapable lead story this week in the golfing world was the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2.

And while I had my hopes set higher for Stick on AppleTV+, I'm guessing that the cameos in Happy Gilmore 2 alone will help it win the battle of golf tv shows/movies. Poor Stick.

So I'm not going to even pretend there were other stories this week and instead run down some of my favorite Happy Gilmore 2 content.

SANDLER GUSHES ABOUT TRAVIS

Normally, the athlete cameo in movies or TV involves a subtle agreement we all make with one another to just politely smile and say something like "aw, at least they put themselves out there".

For Travis Kelce, my expectations were at a "Gronk with a few more brain cells" level. But in an interview for People magazine, Adam Sandler couldn't have spoken higher about Travis and now I'm wondering if we're about to see the rise of a new Jon Cena-like star.

“Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell,” Adam said. “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.”

Why he included "gentle" in his description? Unclear.

He went on to say; “He’s a great actor, he’s solid as a rock.”

Again, a weird add-on. Solid as a rock... is this like a physical fitness thing? Is this an emotional support thing? A true professional on-set thing?

Travis shared in another interview earlier this year that Happy Gilmore 2 outranked SNL for acting career highlight and I feel like if you can hang on SNL and a comedy film set... he's got a future whenever he decides to retire.

Putters to jerseys to everything in between

THE MERCH GAME WAS STRONG

It wouldn't be a Hollywood production if there wasn't a few solid merch opportunities.

The big one was the release of a Happy Gilmore hockey stick putter from Odyssey. It even included the hockey stick sock cover and, by all accounts, appears to be a completely hittable putter. Obviously, it sold out in no-time. And I wonder if this becomes a bigger trend of themed putters and golf balls centered around famous Hollywood IP.

In other, more relevant to us news. We're giving away five customs Bad Birdie jerseys on Instagram. But hurry, the giveaway closes at midnight!

Insane collab alert

NETFLIX x SPOTIFY x HAPPY GILMORE x BILL SIMMONS?

A Spotify game to celebrate the Netflix release of Happy Gilmore 2—with voice reads by Bill Simmons from the The Ringer. Something we never knew we needed.

I came across this activation on some marketing blogs—otherwise I definitely would've never found on the actual Spotify app. I've searched ten different ways and I can't find this game to save my life.

But apparently, in the Spotify app you can play a mini game that allows you to play some golf holes using the infamous hockey stick putter. If you advance, you get audio clips from the movie, easter eggs, and Bill Simmons reads some stuff to you.

I get that Spotify is trying to wave their hands and tell the big-pocketed movie companies and brands that they can do cool stuff on their app. But yikes does this one feel like it was mentioned in some agency's original marketing presentation—and some mid-level team member just ran with it.

If anyone can figure out how to play this thing, hit me up. I mostly just want to figure out why Bill Simmons is involved.

THIS ONE MADE ME HAPPY (NO GILMORE)

Was cruising golf Reddit this week and this post was too good not to share.

Attempting to build on this with more jokes would be a disservice to the post.

The resemblance is insane!
